Tonight I packed a picnic - yummy salads plus sausages for the camp stove, and we ( P.E and J) headed for the beach. We did not do the fish and chips 'thing' because I wanted 'healthy' food. Took chairs and the camp table - not just the rug this time. It was a glorious evening - fine, calm, happy and lively. There were many women of all sizes and shapes running and cycling in what seemed to be a 'duathlon'. Good on them!!!
There was yet another cruise ship in port and we wanted to see it depart. On our way to meet the ship at the other side of the Mount, we met two young Indian men who we chatted to. It turned out that they are studying here and were from the Punjab. We chatted about places they came from, which we had driven through. They enjoyed meeting people who could speak about their home and who understood. Lots of laughs and memories!! We really enjoyed it but it made us a little late for the ship. We had to briskly 'power-walk' to be able to see the ship up close as it sailed out. People everywhere. What a beautiful place we live in and we realised that this was the first time all holidays that we had actually been out and enjoyed it in the evening. We tend to avoid it all when it is so busy with tourists as it is not pleasant. Let's hope it is the first of many to come.
The BEST part of all was discovering that there is a new gelato ice-cream shop at the Mount - right at the foot of the Mount!! So many flavours to choose and we could not bear to have to only choose one!! It was a perfect finish to a great evening at the beach - in paradise!
