Trekking to the waterfall

Today we needed to get out and about away from the sadness of the fire tragedy in Hamilton, which has hit home with P. The 'family' of the Fire Service feels it very deeply and this was an enormous tragedy for them all.
To get away from it we went for a drive to Waharoa to the new cafe at the Waharoa Cheese Factory there. We recommend it and give it 10/10.
Then we put the walking gear on and hiked up to the lookout at the Wairere Falls on the Kaimais. Took us 45 minutes to climb up - magnificent view - brilliant exercise. As you can see, the climb was pretty steep in parts. Hard to believe the early missionaries used to climb over there to get to the Waikato. The Maoris had their own steep track over there too. We had the luxury of a well-maintained track, bridges and steps. Hate to think of what it used to be like.
A great day.
