Such a fun time with friends!

It was quite birthday for E! Surprises, surprises, surprises.

P had told her that he was taking her to Rotorua to get her away on her own for her birthday. No time to be together this term so this was to remedy the situation for a brief window of time. Or so she thought. When in Rotorua she thought she saw friends P and R at an intersection. Upon assuring P that it really was them she was told it would not be. "It WAS," she insisted so he rang them. They LIED to me! "We are in Papamoa," they said. I believed them, naturally, as they are very trustworthy friends.

The day continued and we had a lovely swim in hotel pool. I then looked up to see other good friends going past the ranchsliders towards the rooms. "Look!" I said to P! "It's E and L!"
"Oh no," said P. He gave me the distinct impression that this was going to spoil his plans and that we would probably spoil theirs. So I was a good obedient wife and simply went along with what I thought was the truth. They were simply here by chance and we would try to avoid sitting with them at dinner if possible in order to enjoy time alone. Strange and a bit sad, I thought, but if that is what P wanted that is what I would honour. Down we went to the lobby before dinner - I had not even been suspicious at all the texts P had been receiving all day. He claimed it was someone else and I simply believed him! Why doubt? Anyway, I saw E and L in the distance in the lobby, with party hats on and I assured P that all was well. He could relax as E and L were obviously there with friends and it was someone's birthday! We would not have to feel pressured to sit with them. Though secretly I was disappointed as I had thought it would have been such fun! It was not until we were right up close that I realised that E and L were sitting with our friends P and R, whom I had spotted earlier in their car and who had lied to me that they were in Papamoa. And that it was my birthday they were all there for. Many squeals of delight and recognition and disbelief.

It was such fun. Had a lovely meal and joined them again for breakfast.

Ah!!! what it is to have friends. You cannot buy those of the quality of our good friends. They are treasures and it was great to make a memory with them all! Thanks to you all for being there with us to celebrate my birthday!!
