A slum area close to V and S's home. It is set up, as many are, on the footpath. Anyone who wants to walk past has to walk on the road. Busy traffic scoots past where the photo is taken from. Could not linger long here.
How would you like to do the ironing over there? The irons are loaded with coals, set alight from below and off goes the ironer! Similarly, the boy offering chai on the train carried the tea urn, powered by hot coals beneath it as he walked up and down the train. Fire Safety hazard??
We saw many such loads - both in the middle of the city traffic and in the country!
