Our hotel in Noida: Had a view of the real India right out of the windows.
Exploring where Hindu gods are made near our hotel in Noida. Intricate gods were made, on the edge of the road from straw and mud, mixed with water, then were dried, touched up with more mud to cover the cracks, then painted and lavishly dressed. We went in and saw how they were made.
Here is where the Hindu gods end up after the festival. In Varanasi we saw whole families bringing their god down to the Ganges River and throwing it in. It seems that returning the idol to the river symbolize the circle of life - created from the earth and returning to the earth again at the end. You can imagine the appearance of the Ganges each morning after the previous night's festivities!!

Having lunch at V and S's in their lounge. Phil is taking the photo from the bed! V is a brilliant cook and we were treated to fabulous cuisine!
