Last night we wandered down to Pub Street for dinner . This is the tourist eating centre of Seim Reap. Quite vibrant & pretty with a huge selection of restaurants both sides of the street full of people enjoying a wide range of foods both local and international. J & I managed to keep under the $10 threshold for dinner & drinks (for two) and still eat well. On the way down to Pub street I stopped in at an opticians to check out glasses. got a free eye check, selected frames (with J's help) and thirty minutes later returned to pick up two pairs of specs. One pair for distance/night, one pair for reading. Very happy with them - I think the guy did a better job than in Malaysia despite communication difficulties. Cost only $20 per pair ($40 total) nice frames and all ..... Eat your heart out Spec Savers. I am so impressed with my distance glasses I am tempted to spend another $20 and get another set, or really go expensive and spend $56 on top of the range frames.
Later I had a ""Fish Massage in the local night market - You put your feet in a big pool and hundreds of little fish immediately swarm to your feet and begin to nibble and suck the top layer of (dead) skin off - most unusual feeling, wait till you see the video J took.
After wards J wandered around the market while I had a (conventional) 30min foot massage ($3) in a lovely restful area in the center of the market.
As I have said the shopping here is great and J is overwhelmed with choice, I am giving her plenty of time for this.
1030am Tuesday We are having an easy day today (as are others on tour) just doing our own thing some have gone to a land mine museum others to learn Cambodian cooking etc but we will just rest and shop as this is really our first full free day since arriving.
